Makeup Revolution and ColourPop

Now that I have my office/vanity room set up, I’ve been able to organize everything so it’s super accessible. Over the weekend I had to venture out for lunch in San Francisco and decided to play around with my new Makeup Revolution Affirmation palette. Super affordable, the colors are quite pigmented and who doesn’t love 32 shadows for $15. The look pictured below includes the affirmation palette, as well as ColourPop’s liquid matte lipstick in the color Trap. Read below to see how I got this look. If you’ve created a similar look, please let me know! I’d love to see it.

  • Eyeshadow Primer Potion by Urban Decay (placed on lid up to brow bone)
  • Affirmation Eyeshadow palette by Makeup Revolution (see image for step-by-step placement of color)
    1. Using a clean eyeshadow brush, place color A on lid up to brow bone.
    2. Using a clean blending brush, place color B in the crease, blending in windshield wiper motions. Blend color B into the outer “V” of the eye, placing a little on the outer corner of the eyelid.
    3. Using the same eyeshadow brush you used to apply color A, apply color C on the eyelid, covering any empty spots with color C. Apply color C on inner corners.
    4. If necessary, apply color B into the crease again to deepen the color.
    5. Using a clean fluffy blending brush, blend crease out so lines aren’t as harsh.
    6. Using either a clean eyeshadow brush or an eyeliner brush, apply color D to brow bone (under eyebrow) to highlight.

  • They’re Real mascara by Benefit Cosmetics

Latest Ulta Haul: Urban Decay & Benefit

I am so sorry for the lack of posts lately. We bought a house and are in the process of packing up our apartment and moving things over. But I am excited for the new house since I’ll have my own beauty room and office! I will be starting a YouTube channel shortly after we move (and after I get everything set up), but in the meantime you can still follow me on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.

Now to the post. About a week ago I placed an order on Ulta.com after they sent me an email that Benefit just launched their new brow collection online. I normally don’t do anything with my brows, but had heard great things about this new collection so I thought I’d give it a try. Loving the packaging for both Goof Proof Brow Pencil and KaBrow! I have yet to use it (I overslept this morning and barely made it out the door on time), and I’m excited to give my eyebrows a cleaner, less patchy look. Have you used these new Benefit brow items? I’d love to know. Since I purchased the Benefit items, they sent me a free variety pack. Love those items, too.

Also in my haul was another Urban Decay Vice lipstick. I have been obsessed with this collection since it first launched. This is the second lipstick I’ve purchased – I am obsessed with their comfort matte finish. The color I purchased this time around is called Unicorn and is a pale, peachy nude color. When I applied Unicorn today, it seemed brighter than what the shade looks like in the lipstick tube. To darken it up, I took a little bit of Urban Decay’s Backtalk (another Vice, comfort-matte lipstick) and dabbed on my lips. Worked really well, actually.

Here’s a photo of the lip color. What do you think of this shade? Let me know in the comments.

June Ipsy Glam Bag & First Impressions

After a three day delay (I tweeted out to Ipsy and they were really accommodating), my June glam bag finally arrived yesterday. I have to say, I am obsessed with everything I received this month. Granted, I always get a sneak peek by sharing on social media before they even send it. The theme for the month is “Rebel Rebel” so the bag is super cute (all graffiti) and, like I said, I’m loving the items. Here’s an image with descriptions below.

My Latest Too Faced Haul

Okay, so if you haven’t noticed by now, I’m seriously obsessed with Too Faced products. I ordered this package about two weeks ago and just unboxed it over the weekend and I wanted to share my loot with you. I have yet to try anything since I was in a rush to get out the door this morning, so I will experimenting throughout the week and weekend with these products.

Left to right: Mr. Right Perfect Powder Brush, Hangover Rx primer, Cocoa Contour palette, Mascara Melt-Off, Melted Matte Liquified Lipstick in Miso Pretty, Sweetheart Blush in Something About Berry

  1.  Mr. Right Perfect Powder Brush – I am so excited to use this. I am currently using an angled blush brush and sometimes it grabs too much pigment for my cheeks.
  2. Hangover Rx Primer – Need I say more? This is my new favorite primer. I’m always excited to get the free sample of it with every purchase (I have about three of them now), and it smells like coconut and hydrates my skin like no other.
  3. Cocoa Contour Palette – I have never contoured before, but have watched enough YouTube videos to see how chiseled it can make your jaw line and how defined your cheekbones can look, so I decided to give this a shot. I’ll play around with it this weekend. I love that Too Faced gives a little instruction book with it.
  4. Mascara Melt-Off – I have the hardest time getting mascara off with my makeup remover towelettes. I am super excited to try this product. All you have to do is leave it in for 1 minute and then voila! Your mascara comes right off.
  5. Melted Matte Liquified Lipstick in Miso Pretty – I’ve been loving this formula for liquid matte lipsticks. I got this ballerina pink as a color to use on top of others to make it lighter.
  6. Sweetheart Blush in Something About Berry – Excited to try this new combo blush color. I can combine all three together, or use just one or two of them.

Have you tried any of these products? Let me know in the comments!

May Ipsy Glam Bag

Have you heard of the deluxe makeup sample subscription service called Ipsy? I hadn’t until a few months ago when a former coworker from my banking days told me about it. To get started, you fill out a survey on ipsy.com about your preferences, skin, eye and hair color, and what brands you frequently buy and where you buy them from. Then, you pay $11 per month and get five deluxe samples. Each month has a theme, with the bag to match (you get to keep the bags, by the way).

I loved what came in my April glam bag, so when I was able to get a sneak peek of my May glam bag, I did. Here’s what I got:

2016-05-15 10.35.42

  1. Slmissglam contour brush. I don’t normally contour, but this brush is great for adding a thin line of blush to your cheeks.
  2. Smashbox x-rated mascara. I am finishing up my They’re Real mascara by Benefit right now, so when that’s done I’m excited to try this Smashbox mascara. I’ve heard great things about it.
  3. Hanalei lip treatment. I am always looking for a product to keep my lips hydrated. Excited to try this Hawaiian product.
  4. Eva NYC hungry hair oil treatment. I don’t normally like to put oil-based product in my hair as my hair can get pretty oily, but I am looking to grow out my hair even longer, so I’ll give this a try.
  5. Hikari Cosmetics shimmer bronzer. Just like contouring, I don’t really bronze, but maybe I should start. I am digging the shimmer in this palette.

I have been thoroughly pleased with my first two glam bags and can’t wait for my June bag. If you’re interested in trying out ipsy, click here.
