Makeup Revolution and ColourPop

Now that I have my office/vanity room set up, I’ve been able to organize everything so it’s super accessible. Over the weekend I had to venture out for lunch in San Francisco and decided to play around with my new Makeup Revolution Affirmation palette. Super affordable, the colors are quite pigmented and who doesn’t love 32 shadows for $15. The look pictured below includes the affirmation palette, as well as ColourPop’s liquid matte lipstick in the color Trap. Read below to see how I got this look. If you’ve created a similar look, please let me know! I’d love to see it.

  • Eyeshadow Primer Potion by Urban Decay (placed on lid up to brow bone)
  • Affirmation Eyeshadow palette by Makeup Revolution (see image for step-by-step placement of color)
    1. Using a clean eyeshadow brush, place color A on lid up to brow bone.
    2. Using a clean blending brush, place color B in the crease, blending in windshield wiper motions. Blend color B into the outer “V” of the eye, placing a little on the outer corner of the eyelid.
    3. Using the same eyeshadow brush you used to apply color A, apply color C on the eyelid, covering any empty spots with color C. Apply color C on inner corners.
    4. If necessary, apply color B into the crease again to deepen the color.
    5. Using a clean fluffy blending brush, blend crease out so lines aren’t as harsh.
    6. Using either a clean eyeshadow brush or an eyeliner brush, apply color D to brow bone (under eyebrow) to highlight.

National Lipstick Day

Lipstick has always been a staple in my makeup collection, however, I haven’t religiously wore it until recently. Something about a matte liquid long-lasting lipstick intrigues me. So, in honor of National Lipstick Day, I decided to list some of my favorite lipsticks here, followed by a gallery of some of my favorite colors I’ve swatched. I’d love to know what brand you use for your go-to lip color, as well as types (satin, matte, gloss, etc.). Leave a comment below to tell me!

Note: Too Faced is offering 15% off their lipsticks in honor of National Lipstick Day, so take advantage!

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick First Impression

While making a purchase on Ulta.com, I needed an add-on item to get free shipping. That day, Urban Decay had just launched their Vice lipsticks (100 different shades in 6 different finishes), so I decided to pick a color and lip liner and add it to my bag to get that free shipping.

What a good decision that was! I’m in love with the color I got, as well as the finish. I am obsessed with matte finishes right now, so when I saw that the Vice lipsticks come in a comfort matte, I had to try it. The shade I purchased was Backtalk (a mauve-nude pink) in a comfort matte finish. The comfort matte finish feels like a regular, creamy lipstick, but looks 90% matte after it dries. I am really digging it. I will probably purchase a few other colors. Look at that packaging! Loving it. The Urban Decay 24/7 glide-on lip pencil in Rush (pictured) is super pigmented, so keep that in mind. Ulta’s site has a perfect couples section that matches a shade of the Vice lipstick to a lip liner, so give that a whirl if you’re interested.

Have you tried Urban Decay’s new Vice lipstick? Let me know in the comments.

MOTD: Out-The-Door Look

Happy Friday! I hope you all had a great week. As for me, my body is fighting off some kind of stress cold, I think, so I haven’t done a full face of makeup since last weekend, but wanted to share this out-the-door look with you. I’m sure you’ve seen similar photos on my Instagram about it since I tend to do this makeup every day, but I wanted to share it with you in case you need a quick makeup look for the day. I’d say this look takes me about 15-20 minutes to do, maybe a little less. This look mainly consists of foundation, blush, eyeliner on the waterline, blush, highlighter and lipstick. No eyeshadow, mascara or liquid eyeliner. 🙂

That’s the look! I apply my foundation with a beauty blender so I’m not using my hands, and then I apply my concealer with a brush and then go back with the beauty blender to make it look more natural. I tend to apply foundation and the blended concealer on my eyelids and brow bone to hide the redness. As you can see by the photo, no hardcore eye makeup!

Do you have an out-the-door look? Let me know in the comments.

My Latest Too Faced Haul

Okay, so if you haven’t noticed by now, I’m seriously obsessed with Too Faced products. I ordered this package about two weeks ago and just unboxed it over the weekend and I wanted to share my loot with you. I have yet to try anything since I was in a rush to get out the door this morning, so I will experimenting throughout the week and weekend with these products.

Left to right: Mr. Right Perfect Powder Brush, Hangover Rx primer, Cocoa Contour palette, Mascara Melt-Off, Melted Matte Liquified Lipstick in Miso Pretty, Sweetheart Blush in Something About Berry

  1.  Mr. Right Perfect Powder Brush – I am so excited to use this. I am currently using an angled blush brush and sometimes it grabs too much pigment for my cheeks.
  2. Hangover Rx Primer – Need I say more? This is my new favorite primer. I’m always excited to get the free sample of it with every purchase (I have about three of them now), and it smells like coconut and hydrates my skin like no other.
  3. Cocoa Contour Palette – I have never contoured before, but have watched enough YouTube videos to see how chiseled it can make your jaw line and how defined your cheekbones can look, so I decided to give this a shot. I’ll play around with it this weekend. I love that Too Faced gives a little instruction book with it.
  4. Mascara Melt-Off – I have the hardest time getting mascara off with my makeup remover towelettes. I am super excited to try this product. All you have to do is leave it in for 1 minute and then voila! Your mascara comes right off.
  5. Melted Matte Liquified Lipstick in Miso Pretty – I’ve been loving this formula for liquid matte lipsticks. I got this ballerina pink as a color to use on top of others to make it lighter.
  6. Sweetheart Blush in Something About Berry – Excited to try this new combo blush color. I can combine all three together, or use just one or two of them.

Have you tried any of these products? Let me know in the comments!

Natural Glow Party Look – Eyes

Earlier this week I shared with you my whole look for the White Hot Summer party I attended. What I didn’t show you is a close up of the eyes, so here you go! The hubby and I are heading out to a friend’s birthday dinner tonight, so I thought I’d recreate the eye look. See the step-by-step instructions for this eye look below the photo.

2016-06-11 12.36.15

Eyes:

  • Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Original by Urban Decay. Apply all over your lid and up to brow bone.
  • Chocolate Bar Eyeshadow Palette by Too Faced. See below for colors and placement.
    • Using an all over eyeshadow brush, apply White Chocolate on lid up to brow bone.
    • Using a clean blending brush, apply Salted Caramel in the crease. Be sure to tap off excess shadow before applying. Start with little color and add more to deepen the color if necessary. Keep applying to the outer corner of your eye, to mid-eyelid.
    • Using the same all over eyeshadow brush you used for White Chocolate, apply Marzipanon the center of your eyelid to the inner corner.
    • If needed, apply more Salted Caramel in the crease with the blending brush used. To soften the crease, take a clean blending brush and blend it out.
    • On brow bone, apply Champagne Truffle to highlight and line the bottom of your eyebrow.
    • Apply Champagne Truffle on your inner corners to brighten your eyes a bit.
  • 24/7 Waterline Eye Pencil in Legend (black) by Urban Decay. Running out of this, too, so I purchased a Too Faced one to see which looks better.
  • Long Wear Gel Eyeliner in Black Ink by Bobbi Brown. I haven’t used a liquid eyeliner since purchasing this, but watched a MannyMUA video last night that uses a brush and liquid eyeliner. I feel like I have more control with a brush rather than what comes with the liquid eyeliner.
  • They’re Real Mascara by Benefit Cosmetics. No need for falsies with this.

Natural Glow Party Look

It’s summertime and the living is easy. On Sunday, my work threw a fabulous White Hot Summer party with Cavallo Point Lodge in Sausalito, CA. Since people had to show up in their best summer whites, I decided to create a simple, natural glow look. Below is a photo from my snapchat. I didn’t get a close up of my eyeshadow, however, I plan on doing this look again, so I will update with a new photo then. Also, I recently added some ombré highlights, so I’m looking blonder and tanner. 🙂 This look is using primarily Too Faced products.

Since this look consisted of neutrals and pinks, the melted matte lipstick really added some depth to the look. I will definitely be doing this look again (probably this weekend for a friend’s birthday party).

Child Star Melted Matte Liquified Lipstick

I haven’t officially done a Child Star Melted Matte Liquified Lipstick post yet, so here it is! Love this color. It goes well with every outfit and keeps my lips hydrated. Also, I took a picture of my Warm Glow Too Faced Candlelight Glow highlighter that I don’t leave the house without wearing. Makeup Tip: put a little highlighter on the tip of your nose and brush on your cupid’s bow to give them a little extra glow.

Work Party Makeup

This week, I’ve been representing the magazine I work for a lot, and tonight is no exception. We have a work-related function after working hours, so I thought I’d keep it professional, yet fun for the event tonight. Here’s the look and check out the details below the photos.

My Latest Too Faced Haul

I know, I know. As you can tell, I’m a little obsessed with Too Faced products. But since I won’t be purchasing any more makeup until my next paycheck, I wanted to share my latest haul with you all (haha, that rhymed!).

Love Blush in Your Love is King

Candlelight Glow highlighting powder duo in Rose Glow

Melted Matte liquified matte lipstick in Child Star (I wore this in my professional glam look post yesterday)

Absolutely Flawless concealer

Hangover Rx primer sample

Bronzer sample

I tried the blush and highlighter this morning, but I don’t know how I feel about it yet. Love the colors in both, but I think I need a better blush brush and highlighter brush to get the complete look.

What are your favorite Too Faced products? I’d love to know.

Professional Glam Look

Today I am heading back to my alma mater, San Francisco State University, to help judge magazine ideas for a contemporary magazines class (my full time job is the digital media manager for Marin Magazine in Sausalito, CA). That being said, I decided to do a full face of makeup today since I will be out representing the magazine. Why do I call it “professional glam”? Because the gold layer of eyeshadow has glitter galore in it. Subtle enough for the workplace, but glamorous enough to up your every day makeup game. I used a variety of products that I will list below. Here are a couple snaps of my look:
